NYC Hotel Frozen Pipe

AAG was retained by The Wellington Hotel after a frozen pipe destroyed 7 floors of a 35-story hotel in New York City. We performed a comprehensive policy review to identify coverages, rights, and obligations under the policy.

Assisted ownership in coordinating several emergency response measures, including:

  • Plumbing repairs

  • Winterization of areas without heat

  • Water extraction of over 100,000 square feet of hotel rooms

  • Environmental testing

  • Mold Remediation

  • Temporary heat and electricity; and

  • Emergency repairs to the severely damaged hotel elevators

Compiled a team of experts inclusive of elevator engineer, mechanical engineer, building damage consultant, and
An industrial hygienist prepared a detailed and comprehensive building repair estimate.

New York City’s hotel industry was on the cusp of slowly emerging from the COVID crisis. Our adjusting team and
forensic accountants provided foresight and documentation to support the projected revenue loss for the insured.
The forensic accountants’ trend analysis enabled the insured to gain a maximum recovery for the restoration period.

AAG’s proactive, focused efforts, along with our detailed presentation of the claim, ultimately enabled the insured
to optimize their settlement recovery for all damages.
